This wedding was the last wedding I did for 2011 and I enjoyed being part of this couple’s day so much. Being a wedding photographer in the Winelands, I do a lot of weddings in- and around vineyards and wine farms. So to do a wedding in the city was super exciting for me! Leonie looked absolutely gorgeous and Garreth’s face said ‘he thought so too’. Thank you for making me part of your special day and all the best for the future!

Toe Hanli my kontak vir fotos was ek baie opgewonde. Sy was saam met my op skool en ek het haar (gaan nou nie my ouderdom weggee nie)..maar meer as 10 jaar laas gesien;-). Mense vra my altyd ‘waar’ gaan ons fotos neem, en met hierdie pragtige fotosessie maak ek weereens die punt waarop ek staan: Mens hoef nie ‘n eksotiese plek te kry om mooi foto’s te neem nie. Klein babatjies is ook meer gemaklik in die omgewing wat vir hulle bekend is. Hierdie pragtige babatjie is perfek net soos sy is…sonder enige bykomstighede en mooi agtergronde….en dis tog die fokus van ‘n pasgebore fotosessie. Dit maak die fotos ook meer tydloos en persoonlik (soos met die honde en kat in die fotos! ). Ek hou van baba-fotos as skoon, eenvoudig en vol sagte emosie….en ek dink die Van Wyk’s het mooi in hierdie styl gepas.

ons het ‘n paar ander ‘kinders’ gehad wat ook deel wou wees van die fotosessie……en hulle het geweet hom om met die kamera te speel..

Berto and Lucille | Wedding in Italy Part 1

Okay…so at last I get to blog this beautiful wedding that took place in the countryside of Italy. Yes: Tuscany. When Lucille and Berto ask me if I would consider photographing their wedding abroad, I was overjoyed! This was my first destination wedding and yes…I could do this often! Part of the package was four shoots, one being done in the very busy streets of Florence! But let me start at the beginning. The first shoot was done one afternoon at Villa Bocella situated near the small town of Lucca with its famous walls, winding streets, medieval towers, Romanesque churches and Renaissance palazzi. It was hard to capture the true Tuscan heat on camera (believe me…it was reaaally hot!). But sunsets was magical and the food even more so! And this is what this shoot was about. The atmosphere..the friends…the food…the lifestyle….a true Tuscan dream.

My room was top floor…third window from the right. Must say. Best photographer’s accommodation I’ve ever had.I mean…just look at that! The Ballroom on the second floor

I love doing pregnancy/newborn shoots. After doing the newborn session I really start to feel part of the family! Being a mom twice around now, I love sharing in the joy (and sometimes tears) that come with those first few weeks of parenthood. I also LOVE seeing the men (most of the time not so keen on doing the pregnancy photos) to have a proud beam around them when they hold their child….not minding at all being in front of my lens!

I love it when people are excited about a shoot and equally excited to get their pics. This make me feel like I’m doing something really special. Sune was one of those clients. She booked me months in advance and even I was more excited than usual (if that is at all possible) to do this session. I’ve never done a shoot in a children’s playground before…and I must say..it brought back a lot of memories! I even did some daring shots form atop the climbing thingymejinks! But nonetheless…loved to do this shoot.

Ek ken vir Jacobus en Laurika van skool af en dit was so lekker om hulle weer na al die jare te sien! Vir hierdie tiepe fotosessies probeer ek elkekeer ‘n nuwe plekkie soek om af te neem en hierdie fotos is geneem op vriende van ons se plaas. Dankie Gys en Juanita vir die gebruik van julle pragtige plaas!! En sterkte aan Jacobus en Laurika vir die laaste tydjie wat voorle. Ek sien uit om die nuweling te ontmoet en af te neem.
