I do many MANY weddings, each with an unique couple, each couple special. Most couple are in love, most couples are really happy on their wedding day. And then came along Jakes and Melissa, again blowing

me away with their love for each other. I have mentioned before that toasts and speeches are my favorite part of the wedding, and these two beautiful people reminded me why. Yes….tears and all, even my little viewfinder misting up! Thank you for making me part of your day. You are two lovely people!

Eugene and Salomie | Forest 44

Eugene en Salomie het die knoop deurgehaak in die pragtige ‘St Anthonys in the Valley chapel’ en daarna hulle wit en swart onthaal by Forest 44 gehou. Tradisioneel assosieer mens wit met troue, maar die swart toevoeging is deesdae so vars en anders. Salomie het ‘n aansteeklike glimlag en Eugene was baie meer gemaklik met die fotos as wat hy vooraf gese het hy gaan wees! (persoonlik dink ek hy kon net nie ophou glimlag vir sy pragtige bruid nie…). Ek het elke deel van hulle foto-sessie baie geniet en die lig was pragtig daardie dag. Weereens dankie Linda Basson dat jy my so mooi geassisteer het. Altyd so ‘n voorreg om saam met jou te werk en Alicia, jou grimering was foutloos soos gewoontlik.

Christo, Elizma, Carla, HW en Isabella

If you can remember I did a newborn shoot with HW and Isabella when they were only four days old. Sister Carla could be in the photos so we decided to do another session with her included. Carla is just plain gorgeous. Children are overall so unpretentious and natural…it’s hard not to capture that on an images. Christo and Elizma, thank you for driving all the way from the west coast for this session. Obviously I enjoyed it!

Lukas, Corne en hulle kleine prinses

Dis vir my so lekker om ‘n pad saam met my kliente te stap. Lukas en Corne het ek al tweemaal vantevore afgeneem en dit bly ‘n plesier om te sien hoe swangerskap ‘n babatjie word, en hoe babatjie ‘n kleine mensie raak. Again I loved following this busybee around the grounds of the Grande Roche hotel and enjoying how she explores new things. Corne and Lucas are also expecting their second child, so I suppose I will be seeing them again soon for their new addition.

Ek het ‘n hond wat ons gekry het toe ek 9 maande swanger was met Christiaan en beskou Nala (ons Staffie) steeds as my eersgeborene en enigste dogtertjie. Ek geniet dit vreeslik as mense hulle honde en diere wil deelmaak van ‘n familie-sessie aangesien dit vir my deel is van hoe hulle as gesin is. Ek streef voordurend om my sessies so natuurlik as moontlik te maak en fotos te neem soos wat die lewe soms normaalweg verloop. Ek verduidelik altyd vir my kliente dat ‘n eksotiese plek nie altyd nodig is om die middelpunt van hulle familie vas te vang nie. ‘n Fotograaf wat familie-fotos neem behoort te weet dat mense graag hulleself wil vasvang soos hulle natuurlik is! Met Andre wat op sy besigste ouderdom is, en Jonty wat verder moes stap as sy normal van-voordeur-tot-sitkamer-tot-bank, was hierdie ‘n bedrywige sessie! Maar ek is mal oor hoe die fotos uitgekom het. Baie geluk Nandrie en Henry op die goeie nuus…een van die dae neem ek twee woelwaters af. xx

This wedding was the last wedding I did for 2011 and I enjoyed being part of this couple’s day so much. Being a wedding photographer in the Winelands, I do a lot of weddings in- and around vineyards and wine farms. So to do a wedding in the city was super exciting for me! Leonie looked absolutely gorgeous and Garreth’s face said ‘he thought so too’. Thank you for making me part of your special day and all the best for the future!
